Creditinfo Central Africa in the Republic of the Congo

June 24, 2026

A new milestone has been reached in strengthening the financial infrastructure of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) with the official launch of the Credit Bureau (BIC) in the Republic of the Congo.

The ceremony, chaired by the Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, Christian Yoka, and attended by national authorities, representatives of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), credit institutions, microfinance institutions, and key stakeholders from the financial sector, marked the official operational launch of the Credit Bureau in the country.

As the operator of the Credit Bureau across the CEMAC region, Creditinfo Central Africa (CICA) provides a modern and secure platform for collecting, processing, and sharing borrowers’ credit and payment history information. This infrastructure enhances the quality of credit risk assessment, strengthens trust among financial institutions, and promotes fairer access to financing.

The Credit Bureau addresses a key challenge by reducing information asymmetry between lenders and borrowers through the centralization of reliable, up-to-date, and relevant credit data. This enables financial institutions to make better-informed lending decisions while allowing borrowers with a positive repayment history to benefit from improved access to credit and more favorable financing conditions.

In his remarks, the National Director of BEAC in the Republic of the Congo, Serge Dino Daniel Ngassakys, emphasized that the Credit Bureau is built on three fundamental principles: transparency, accountability, and financial inclusion. He also highlighted that the initiative forms part of CEMAC’s broader strategy to modernize the regional financial system in line with international best practices.

For his part, the Minister of Finance, Christian Yoka, welcomed the successful implementation of this major reform led by BEAC with the support of CEMAC Member States, financial institutions, and development partners. He reiterated that a strong and efficient financial system is essential to fostering economic development, improving business financing, and supporting sustainable growth.

On this occasion, Creditinfo Central Africa signed participation agreements with credit institutions and microfinance institutions in the Republic of the Congo. These agreements formalize their integration into the regional credit information-sharing system and reaffirm their commitment to more effective credit risk management, responsible lending, and greater financial inclusion.

The rollout of the Credit Bureau in the Republic of the Congo is part of the broader regional deployment of the Credit Bureau framework across all CEMAC Member States. Through this initiative, Creditinfo Central Africa reaffirms its commitment to supporting monetary authorities, regulators, and financial institutions in building a more transparent, resilient, and inclusive financial ecosystem that contributes to the sustainable economic development of the region.
