CICA Officially Launched in Bangui (RCA) to Modernize Access to Credit in the CEMAC Region

June 3, 2026

The national headquarters of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Bangui hosted the official launch ceremony of Creditinfo Central Africa (CICA), the first Credit Information Bureau (BIC) to obtain a license in the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) region.

This initiative represents a strategic milestone in the development of the regional financial ecosystem. It reflects the commitment of monetary authorities to strengthen the availability, quality, and sharing of financial information in order to promote a more transparent, secure, and inclusive economic environment.

Established by Creditinfo Central Africa, in accordance with BEAC’s guidelines, this new system serves as a regional platform dedicated to the collection, centralization, and analysis of credit-related data. It will enable financial institutions to access reliable information on borrowers, improve creditworthiness assessments, better manage risks, and make more informed financing decisions.

The launch ceremony brought together several key stakeholders from the financial sector, including the Governor of BEAC, representatives of Central African authorities, credit institutions, financial institutions, and technical partners involved in the implementation of this major reform.

For industry stakeholders, the introduction of the CIB represents a concrete response to one of the major challenges facing financial markets: the information asymmetry between lenders and borrowers. By facilitating the circulation of reliable data, CICA contributes to building greater trust among economic stakeholders.

The main expected benefits include:

  • Greater transparency within the financial sector;
  • Improved quality and accessibility of borrower information;
  • Reduced uncertainty in credit granting processes;
  • Enhanced access to financing for individuals and businesses;
  • Strengthened financial inclusion across CEMAC member states.

The launch of CICA is part of the gradual deployment of Credit Information Bureaus across the six CEMAC member states. This reform, led by BEAC, aims to modernize financing practices in the region by relying on international standards in risk management, data governance, and consumer protection.

With the launch of Creditinfo Central Africa, the CEMAC region takes a decisive step towards a more modern, transparent, and growth-oriented financial system. By improving the quality of available financial information, the Credit Information Bureau becomes a key instrument for strengthening trust, supporting the financing of the real economy, and promoting sustainable financial inclusion in Central Africa.
